US footwear brand Skechers has stated that 100% of the leather it purchased in 2025 was sourced from suppliers certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG). The company disclosed the figures in its recently published 2025 Impact Report.
According to the report, the footwear company intends to continue this purchasing practice throughout 2026. Skechers also reported that it is currently exploring the use of recycled suede materials that incorporate leather scraps sourced from LWG-certified tanneries.
The Leather Working Group has confirmed that Skechers has joined the organisation as its newest member. According to the certification body, brand membership supports the continued development of standards used to certify leather manufacturers, while assisting brands in implementing and advancing their responsible sourcing strategies.
While outlining its sourcing targets and certification requirements, Skechers’ 2025 Impact Report does not specify the total volume of leather purchased during the period. In addition, the publication does not disclose the proportion of the brand’s footwear products that contain leather.
