The German company, which has long supplied components for Blizzard and Nordica skis, will now manufacture ski components using regenerated materials from recycled ski boots.
Launched in 2021, the Recycle Your Boots project collects and recycles ski boots from all brands to recover raw materials for new ski boots and mountain sports products. More than 50,000 pairs of ski boots have been processed so far, achieving an average material recovery rate of 85% and saving an estimated 750 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
In the next two years, CPS will process 10.8 tonnes of second-generation TPU into selected ski components used in Tecnica Group’s ski production facility in Mittersill, Austria. The regenerated material meets the mechanical performance, durability and quality standards required for high-performance winter sports equipment.
“For us, Recycle Your Boots is a laboratory for continuous innovation,” said Arianna Colombari, Sustainability Director at Tecnica Group. “It is not only about collecting old ski boots, but about developing products that contain regenerated materials and are easier to recycle at the end of their life cycle.”
CPS sees the collaboration as a key step toward strengthening closed material loops in the ski industry. “This partnership shows how circular economy principles can be implemented at industrial scale when technical expertise and shared sustainability goals come together,” said CPS Managing Director Michael Lorenz.
