Used On products can be returned in exchange for a credit note towards future purchases. Items in excellent condition are prepared for resale through the enhanced programme. Items that are not suitable for this are donated via partner organisations. If donation is not possible, the products will be recycled.
By collaborating with experienced charity organisations and regional recycling companies, On aims to keep materials in circulation beyond their initial ‘finish line’. In doing so, On takes responsibility for every product sold, with the aim of keeping products in use for as long as possible and maintaining materials in a permanent cycle.
“We will use the information we gain from returned products and our regional recyclers to develop future products with improved materials and greater recyclability,” says Begüm Kürkçü, Senior Director of Sustainability at On. “Circularity at On isn’t just about take-back, resale, donation or recycling – it’s about relentlessly driving innovation in recyclable materials, extending product lifespans and minimising waste at every stage.”
The service will initially launch in Switzerland, the US and the UK, with plans to roll it out to further markets in the future. The original subscription service, launched in 2022 for recyclable sportswear, will be discontinued. The full Cyclon collection, previously available only via subscription, will be offered for direct purchase from June 2026.
On will continue to use the recycled material from the Cyclon collection for new shoe components or products in other sectors.
