Pakistan exported 3.14 million pairs of footwear worth US$33.21 million between July and August 2026, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, export volume fell by 10.54%, while export value decreased by 1.17%.
Leather footwear, the country’s most important footwear export category by value, bucked the overall trend. Pakistan shipped 1.68 million pairs of leather shoes during the two-month period, up 7.97% year on year. Their export value increased by 1.24% to US$27.61 million. Canvas footwear also recorded strong growth, albeit from a considerably smaller base. Exports reached around 32,000 pairs with a value of approximately US$680,000. This represented year-on-year increases of 66.50% in volume and 58.11% in value. The overall result was dragged down by the “other footwear” category. Shipments fell by 26.16% year on year to 1.43 million pairs, while their value dropped by 16.66% to US$4.92 million.
Pakistan’s wider leather sector performed more strongly during the period. Leather manufacturers generated export revenues of US$118.37 million in July and August, an increase of 13.45% from US$104.34 million in the same period a year earlier. Exports of tanned leather also increased, rising by 10.33% from US$21.74 million to US$23.98 million.
Pakistan has a sizeable footwear manufacturing industry. According to the World Footwear 2026 Yearbook, the country’s footwear industry ranks seventh worldwide.
Production is concentrated primarily in Punjab province and is largely geared towards Pakistan’s domestic market. The latest export figures nevertheless underline the importance of leather footwear for the country’s international footwear business: the category accounted for more than four-fifths of Pakistan’s footwear export value during the first two months of the current fiscal year.
