Sergi Barrull has taken over the leadership of Sicit Group. The agribusiness executive joined the Italian manufacturer of bioactive ingredients as General Manager in July 2025. As CEO, he will now focus on accelerating international growth, strengthening the company’s commercial capabilities and bringing innovations to market more quickly.
Barrull succeeds Massimo Neresini, who spent almost 40 years with Sicit and led the company for around two decades. Under his leadership, Sicit developed into an international supplier of collagen-based peptides and amino acids for agriculture and industrial applications. Its business model is based on circular economy principles. According to the company, this helps avoid around two million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
“It is an honour to lead Sicit at such an important time,” says Sergi Barrull. “Massimo and the team have built an exceptional foundation of technical excellence, product quality and leadership in sustainability. Our goal now is to build on that foundation, bring the right solutions to customers more quickly and take Sicit into new markets.”
Sicit plans to further expand its presence in Europe and Asia and accelerate its expansion in North and South America through organic growth and targeted acquisitions. In product development, the company will focus on three technology pillars: collagen-derived peptide fractions, Patagonian seaweed extracts and Moringa-based botanicals.
Barrull has more than 20 years of experience in management consulting and the agricultural industry. His previous positions include roles at Accenture, Syngenta and Indigo Agriculture. Sicit operates four production facilities and sells its products in more than 80 countries.
